Restaurantware's Bio Tek Bio Boxes are foldable paper takeout containers with tab locks. Each box carries a number as well as a capacity, and the #4 is the largest in the current listings at 98 ounces. This article covers the black #4 and the options around it.
The black #4 Bio Box
The Bio Tek 98 oz Rectangle Black Paper #4 Bio Box Take Out Container measures 8 1/2" x 6 1/4" x 3 1/2" and is sold in a 200 count box. Restaurantware describes it as a container for "large portions of leftover, take out, and delivery food." Its listing states that:
- the paper material is recyclable
- a greaseproof poly coating lets it hold hot and cold foods without leaking or tearing
- foldable tabs lock each container so it keeps its shape in transport
- it can handle a wide range of temperatures and is freezable
- it provides "maximum space for sides and drinks"

- #1: 30 oz, 5" x 4" x 2 1/2"
- #8: 45 oz, 6 3/4" x 5 1/2" x 2 1/2"
- #2: 49 oz, 8 1/2" x 6 1/4" x 2"
- #3: 71 oz, 8 1/2" x 6 1/4" x 2 1/2"
- #4: 98 oz, 8 1/2" x 6 1/4" x 3 1/2"
The #2, #3 and #4 share an 8 1/2" x 6 1/4" footprint and differ in height. Two-compartment boxes are also listed: a 47 oz #3 and a 50 oz #5.
Colors and patterns
The #4 comes in many finishes. Listings include kraft, black, white, gray, newsprint, red, tangerine orange, eco green and turquoise, plus blue and white stripe, pink and white stripe, plaid and Frenchie prints. The kraft #4 listing describes the box as suited to restaurants and food trucks, with a recyclable paper construction and a greaseproof poly coating.
A microwavable version
For reheating, Restaurantware lists a Kraft Paper Microwavable #4 Bio Box at the same size. Its listing says it is microwave-safe "to easily heat up pizza slices," greaseproof for buttery or saucy dishes, recyclable and stackable, and holds up to 98 ounces of chow mein. Microwavable kraft versions are also listed for the #1, #2 and #3. Because microwave use is called out on specific listings, check each product page before reheating in a Bio Box.
Insert trays
Restaurantware sells white plastic insert trays that fit the 49, 71 and 98 oz Bio Boxes: a 40 oz 3-compartment tray, a 40 oz 3-compartment taco tray, and a 43 oz 2-compartment tray, each 200 per box and listed as microwave-safe. The 3-compartment tray is described as flexible polypropylene for hot and cold foods and "great for holding tacos and other foods alongside their sides."
